Preschool and School-Age Hearing Screening

Detect early to better support learning!

Hearing plays a crucial role in a child's cognitive development, language acquisition, and academic success. Even a mild hearing loss can hinder learning and give the impression that a child is inattentive, when in fact they may simply not be hearing certain sounds properly.

For children, an annual hearing screening is recommended since some issues, such as ear infections and earwax buildup, can recur and cause temporary hearing loss.

A hearing screening makes it possible to:

  • Ensure that the ear canals are clear of earwax.
  • Check that the eardrum is moving properly and that no fluid is present behind it.
  • Determine if the inner ear cells are functioning well through otoacoustic emissions, for children under 30 months of age. This is similar to newborn hearing screening.
  • Assess whether your child detects low-intensity sounds. For children 30 months and older, this activity is carried out in the form of games.

If a hearing screening is failed, a full audiological evaluation will be recommended.

Mobile clinic

To make this essential service more accessible, Audio Logique travels directly to daycares and schools with its mobile clinic.

This way, screenings can be performed on site, without requiring children to travel.
